Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Focus

Schreyer Honors College 

 

Sophie is a Biology Major with a minor in Neuroscience and a focus in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State. She is currently planning on attending Physician Assistant school after graduation and previously worked as a research assistant. Her studies were conducted in a biomedical lab testing the effects of excessive cortisol on placental cells and fetal development. As a result of her research, she won first place at the Sigma Xi undergraduate research conference and at the American Society of Intercellular Communication’s national research conference. Additionally, she earned the Erickson Discovery Grant and Penn State Behrend 2021 Undergraduate Student Summer Research Fellowship Grant. When not in the lab, she plays guitar, rides motorcycles, paints, and spends time with her friends and family
